Install and activate
During assisted setup, install the Flux Connector preview package in WordPress. A WordPress administrator controls pairing from Tools → Flux Connector.

Pair your desktop
Create a one-time code in WordPress, then enter the site address and code in Flux for Windows or Mac. The code expires after ten minutes; the app exchanges it over HTTPS and stores the credential in your operating system’s credential manager.

Check fit before working
Flux reports WordPress and PHP versions, the theme, active plugins and host permissions. Use that report to confirm local capture and the supported changes you can publish.
From connection to reviewed change

The connector gives Flux a scoped connection to the site. Your desktop remains the place to prepare, review and approve the work.
Review supported changes
Prepare changes in the preview, inspect the selected edits and approve publication in the desktop app. Connector publishing is limited to supported WordPress operations and permitted theme files.
Control desktop access
Pair again with a fresh code to replace a saved credential. A WordPress administrator can revoke all paired Flux desktop credentials from Tools → Flux Connector.
Check your hosting setup
Know what your site allows.
WordPress permissions and hosting restrictions determine which connector operations are available. The pilot checks those requirements with you.
- WordPress and secure access
- WordPress 5.6 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer, HTTPS and WordPress application passwords are required for pairing. SSH/SFTP remains an option when application passwords are disabled.
- Local preview capture
- Full capture requires a single-site installation and files that WordPress can read. Multisite full previews are unavailable. Docker 28 or newer must be running on your Windows PC or Mac.
- Theme files and recovery
- Theme publication requires PHP write access to the active or parent theme and permission to modify files. Restricted hosts may need SSH or a hosting deployment for files. If WordPress cannot start, recovery needs your host’s tools or SSH.
- A working copy for reviewed changes
- Capture happens over time; it is not a point-in-time backup of the whole site. Supported changes are checked against live values before publication. Coordinate overlapping edits and hosting deployments while publishing.
